I followed the instructions provided here:
https://support.voobly.com/display/vkb/KB1054+Clean+installation+of+Aoe2HD+with+compatibility+patch
I have successfully placed the patch within the aoe2hd folder in steamapps (not "new folder" like it suggests)
I have re-entered the lobby and it required me to download DirectPlay which I allowed Voobly to do automatically. However, now I am receiving the following error after the DirectPlay install:
"Base Language DLL 'c:\program files (x86)\steam\SteamApps\common\Age2HD\language.dll'

Fix was applied successfully!
Failure! Windows 8.1 and later users can install DirectPlay through Control Panel -> Programs -> Turns Windows features on or off -> Legacy Components -> DirectPlay.
There was an error applying the fix!"
I feel like I am getting close..what should I do?
try installing the legacy apps yourself.
